On the 17th of July at approximately 8:30 a.m., an individual neighbouring the church of Good Shepherd Gospel Centre in Kegalle, began yelling in obscene language at congregants arriving for the Sunday service. Following this, 02 officers from the Criminal Investigation Department arrived at the church at around 9:30 a.m, in response to a phone call complaining about the noise of the service. The pastor informed the 02 officers that the service was yet to commence. Subsequently, the Headquarters Inspector and 02 other police officers from the area police station also arrived on the scene.
They too informed the pastor that they had received a complaint about the noise of the worship service and questioned the pastor on his religious worship activities. The neighbour began to level false accusations against the pastor in the presence of the law enforcement officials.
