Earlier in 2017, the NCEASL together with the Pastors’ Fellowships across the island agreed on a common mandate; to share the Good News with people who had not yet heard of Jesus Chris by the year 2020. Towards this end, there is a need to step up discipling among pastors and ministry workers who work with their communities. From 7 – 9 September, the NCEASL facilitated a 3 day residential conference titled ‘2020 Harvest’ which drew over 200 pastors and others involved in ministry. The participants included those from denominational and non-denominational churches. The speakers, Rev. Asiri Perera, Rev. Vernon Perera and Rev. Michael Dissanayake, addressed the participants on faithful discipleship, the multiplication factor of discipling and on church planting.
“It is not easy to share the gospel in these areas, but we were encouraged by the teachings of these great men of God who took time off their busy schedules to be with us and share testimonies from their lives experiences” said one participant.
The participants broke up into smaller groups where they could learn more on areas closer to their heart – on holistic ministry, discipleship and church planting.
