Missions
Commission
The Missions Commission supports the NCEASL’s vision of ‘Unifying the Church to Transform the Nation’, by its commitment to equipping the National Church of Sri Lanka and serving Christians living in all parts of the Nation. This commission’s focus is on supporting pastors and Christian leaders across the Nation through:
-
trainings and seminars to equip and empower them
-
support towards their needs and well-being
-
scholarships and educational support for Christian workers’ children
-
fostering prayer and encouragement
-
easy access to theological literature (in some instances translated and printed)
EQUIPPING AND EMPOWERING REGIONAL LEADERS
As part of empowering and training Christian workers, the Missions Commission shares the vision, discusses accountability, and responds to their needs; they are also encouraged to carry on serving in their communities as the salt and light of the nation.
As we face the pandemic, the Missions Commission continues to connect with the Christian workers and leaders whilst encouraging them through prayer and fellowship via online communication. Furthermore, we support them in their needs.
SUPPORT FOR CHURCH WORKERS
The Missions aids church workers in rural communities to enable them to support their families whilst providing training and instruction through family camps and counseling, whenever the need arises.
01
TRAINING AND SEMINARS
Christian workers and their families who are discouraged and endure severe challenges and struggles in their ministry are encouraged through training and seminars. These programmes are designed to encourage them and their families whilst creating a space of spiritual solace, safety, and a time of rest. They are uplifted through worship, prayer, and biblical teaching; participants are motivated to stand firm through trials and challenges and are equipped to further serve their communities with a renewed spirit.
02
TRUTH CENTERED TRANSFORMATION
The Truth Centered Transformation training module encourages Christian workers to bring transformation to vulnerable communities through a holistic discipleship approach. This training equips the Christian workers to spread Christ's love by serving them through acts of kind deeds and community outreach.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT
03
We are dedicated to supporting Christian workers’ children with their learning needs in a bid to encourage them to continue their education. To this day, the Missions Commission supports their children even through the pandemic as they continue their education online.
04
PRAYER ENCOURAGEMENT
Fostering prayer events and encouraging fellowship amongst the Christian workers has always been one of the core efforts of the Missions Commission. During the pandemic, together with the National Prayer Team, over 1500 Christian workers were encouraged with short online messages weekly and frequent prayer meetings (online) uplifting them spiritually and praying for each other's needs.
05
PUBLICATIONS AND RESOURCES
Christian leaders and church workers are equipped with theological literature as a number of publications and resources are printed and translated into the vernacular annually, for their spiritual nourishment. The Missions Commission also resources the National Church with theological literature and publications.

THE CEYLONESE EVANGELISTIC ASSOCIATION
The Ceylonese Evangelistic Association is an organisation that brings the independent churches together for accountability and into fellowship with the larger body of Christ. It thereby encourages a sense of belonging and unity by creating a community amongst believers.
